Of course surveillance is never a good thing.
But sadly, this "experiment" was just a first taste of what will be the norm is society down the road, whatever the purpose ends up being.
Marketing, security.

And we just don't know the implications and consequence of this will be.
Just like a few years ago we would never have tought of social "technology" provided by youtube and the likes.
