Green tech guide MetaEfficient has two guides to new electric bikes—one that reviews Schwinn's latest offerings, and another that pushes a collection of European-made bikes. The eZee electric bike, made in South Africa but available here, can help riders with hills, cruise for miles on a single charge or even race faster, depending on the model. They range in price from $1,150 to $2,200. The bikes are ideal for short-range city commuters, but at that price, you'd probably want to wheel them inside, and clear some extra space in your cube, lest some green-minded thief ride off with it.—Gregory Mone

Electric bikes are a nice idea, but I think the majority of them are out of what most people could afford. Who can spend hundreds of dollars on a bike? Not many people.

Shocked as I am…I still find it hard to believe that this is happening in the world. I hope everybody learns about this subject and be aware so that the world comes under the light of awareness.

I love electric bikes. I've been telling a large number of my reader base and clients to invest in them for a while. The fact is, there are still going to be plenty of occasions where you're going to be pedalling (and therefore burning off calories), but you can use this for the times when cycling wouldn't be so practical. Good stuff.

The third level is more "conceptual" and seems to require some "thinking". But this is not necessarily an exclusively human ability: indeed, when a dog learns that bringing back the stick will get him a stroke, this is also some kind of induction.

The battery for the motor can be purchased separately and will depend on the potential use. Battery life can vary greatly depending on the terrain, the weight of the cyclist and the climate.
